Public sector organisations have a responsibility to safeguard against radicalisation; this is known commonly as the Prevent Duty.
Prevent is ultimately about safeguarding vulnerable people from harm.
The Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT) have now transferred new responsibilities for administering the 'Channel' programme from the police to local authorities and this is now in place for Rochdale borough council.
A full copy of the government strategy on Prevent is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/counter-terrorism-strategy-contest-2018
Updated Prevent guidance can be found on Rochdale borough council’s website http://www.rochdale.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/policies-strategies-and-reviews/strategies/equality-and-diversity-1/Pages/prevent-duty.aspx
